Germo Zimmermann

Germo Zimmermann (* 1983 ) is a German social worker , religious educator and social scientist . He works as a professor for social work with a focus on youth work at the YMCA University in Kassel. Since March 2018 he has been a member of the university management as Vice Rector.

Life

After graduating from high school at the Westerwald-Gymnasium Altenkirchen, Zimmermann completed his community service in the Diaconal Work of the Evangelical Church District Altenkirchen. This was followed by a voluntary social year (FSJ) in the CVJM-Kreisverband Bünde eV, before he studied social work, community education and diakonia at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe . During his studies he received a scholarship from the Evangelische Studienwerk Villigst and received the 1st prize for the best diploma thesis in the 2009/2010 year of EFH-Bochum. At the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, he was awarded a Dr. rer. soc. PhD. Zimmermann works as a professor of social work with a focus on youth work at the CVJM University in Kassel. There he is the scientific director of the Institute for Adventure Education (IfEP) and is a member of the academic senate. He is a liaison professor at the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst and is an expert in youth work in the "Youth Partnership" program of the Council of Europe and the European Commission .
