Ernst Amadeus Wolff

Ernst Amadeus Wolff (born October 1, 1928 in Seschwitz ; † May 3, 2008 in Darmstadt ), also EA Wolff, was a German legal scholar and legal philosopher .

life and work

After his release from American captivity in September 1945, he passed the school leaving examination in Schwäbisch Hall in 1947. He studied from 1948 to 1951 law at the Universities of Erlangen and Tuebingen and was founded in 1956 by his assessor examination by the Law Faculty of the University of Tuebingen with one of William Gallas managed to work over the infringement as a feature of the perpetrators doctorate . In 1957 he became a research assistant to Gallas, who had meanwhile moved to Heidelberg University . Under his supervision, Wolff completed his habilitation in Heidelberg in 1963 with the book The Injustice and Its Limits and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedure law and legal philosophy.

In 1964 he was offered a professorship at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . From 1972 to 1993 he was professor for criminal law , criminal procedure and legal philosophy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In his work Wolff mainly dealt with criminal law doctrine and legal philosophy. In particular, he dealt with Hegel , Kant and Fichte .

Wolff is the father of the legal scholar Heinrich Amadeus Wolff .
