Karl Ernst Adalbert Batsch (born January 27, 1879 in Wilhelmshaven , † December 21, 1948 in Ostheim vor der Rhön ) was a German naval officer , most recently Rear Admiral of the Reichsmarine .

Life

The son of Vice Admiral Karl Ferdinand Batsch joined the Imperial Navy as a cadet on April 7, 1896 after completing school and completed his basic and ship training on the cruiser frigates SMS Stosch and SMS Stein . On May 3, 1897, he was appointed sea ​​cadet . On January 1, 1899, he became an ensign at sea . From April to the end of September 1898 he completed special courses on the torpedo training ship SMS Blücher and the artillery training ship SMS Mars and then went to the naval school. As a lieutenant in the sea (since September 30, 1899) he was assigned to the II. Sea Battalion for a year. This was followed by a six-monthly assignment on board the liner SMS Weißenburg and as a recruit officer in the II. Sailor Division and on the training ship SMS Nixe . On October 2, 1900, he was transferred to the SMS Baden tank corvette as an adjutant . From October 1, 1901 to February 28, 1902, he was assigned to the nautical department of the Reichsmarinamt , followed by a post as an officer on watch on the survey ship Hyäne until September 29, 1902.

From 1910 to 1917 Batsch served as first officer, initially on smaller and later on larger warships . In 1917 he became a consultant in the Reichsmarineamt as a corvette captain . From 1919 on he was active in the Marine Peace Commission, serving initially in the Admiralty until 1921 and then in the naval management of the Reichsmarine. He was promoted to sea captain on January 10, 1921 and, as chairman of the naval peace commission at the Reichswehr Ministry, was also a representative of the Reichsmarine at the League of Nations .

Batsch received on 1 October 1926 character as a Rear Admiral and was in on 31 March 1928 retirement adopted.
