Ernst Bernhard Schulz (also Ernst B. Schulz , born November 1, 1896 in Cleveland , Cuyahoga County , Ohio , † April 27, 1985 in Richlandtown , Bucks County , Pennsylvania ) was an American political scientist .

Life

Family and education

Born in Cleveland, Ernst Bernhard Schulz, son of Ernst Paul Schulz and his wife Agnes Hermina née Krause, studied at the Case Institute of Technology from 1915 to 1918 after attending public schools . Following Mr. Schulz moved to the study of political science at the University of Michigan to Ann Arbor , in 1920 he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Science , in the following year those of a Master of Arts . In 1927, its done Promotion for Ph. D.

Ernst Bernhard Schulz married Catherine Lillie (1903–1997) from Pittsburgh on June 21, 1921 . From this connection came the children Robert, Constance, Dorothy and Mary. Schulz died at the end of April 1985 at the age of 88 in the Zohlman Nursing Home in Richlandtown.

Professional background

After an appointment as an assistant at the Detroit Bureau of Governmental Research in 1921, he took the position of Secretary at the Bureau of Government of the University of Michigan, which he held until 1924. He began his university teaching activities in 1922 as an instructor in political science at the University of Cincinnati , which he practiced until 1923. From 1924 Schulz worked in the same capacity at the University of Michigan. 1927 was committed to the position of an assistant professor of political science at Lehigh University in Bethlehem . In 1931 Ernst Bernhard Schulz was promoted to associate professor and in 1945 to full professor . The proven expert in the areas of political theory and city government retired in 1966 .

Ernst Bernhard Schulz was a member of the American Political Science Association , the National Municipal League, the American Academy of Political and Social Science, the Kappa Sigma and the Tau Beta Pi.
