Ernst Braun (master builder)
Ernst Brown (* around 1700 in Hannover , † according 1762 ) was a builder of the Baroque in Hannover.
Life
Braun was probably the son of Colonel Artillery Ernst Eberhard Braun , who is attested in Hanover between 1700 and 1722. For Ernst Braun, the management of construction measures in Hanover can be proven from 1738. He was a member of the military in the engineering corps , since 1741 with the rank of captain . From 1742 to 1751 he was a Hanover city architect , from 1749 also a fortress architect . There are no more documents about his work from the period after 1762.
Works
Ernst Braun worked primarily as a surveyor and cartographer . The most important buildings he designed include:
- Katharinenkirche in Duingen (1735–1739)
- Kreuzkirche in Sehnde (1736–1739)
- Christ Church in Harpstedt (1742–1747)
