Ernst Fuchs-Schönbach (around 1940)

Ernst Fuchs-Schönbach (born March 18, 1894 in Schönbach, Drachselsried municipality , Lower Bavaria; † September 9, 1975 in Viechtach ; actually Ernst Fuchs ) was a German church musician and composer .

Life

Ernst Fuchs-Schönbach was born as the seventh child of the Anton and Josefa Fuchs family. He attended elementary school in Oberried and high school in Passau. He studied two semesters at the church music school in Regensburg and six semesters at the Academy of Music in Munich . In 1918 he became choir regent in Viechtach. In 1921 he married Käthe Oppermann (born January 27, 1893). He had three children with her: Roswitha (* 1923), Inge (* 1926) and Ernst (* 1928). In 1946 Ernst Fuchs-Schönbach's son died of sudden heart failure. During the Second World War , Fuchs-Schönbach worked as a deputy music teacher at the secondary school in Cham. From 1962 to 1968 he gave piano and music lessons at the Staatliche Realschule in Viechtach. In Viechtach he founded a singing school.

Ernst Fuchs and his place of birth Schönbach

Ernst Fuchs-Schönbach chose a double name as his stage name. He attached the name of his place of birth to his actual name as an expression of his homeland. The following quote underlines the extraordinary closeness to home in the Fuchs family:

“Father was very attached to his homeland, just like his mother was. She was very attached to her youngest son and so she managed to give him a grand piano (Seiler company), but only on the condition: he should stay close to her as long as she lived, which is what happened. "

- Roswitha Niedermayer, 2008
