Ernst Gehmacher

Ernst Gehmacher (born August 6, 1926 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian publicist and social scientist specializing in social research .

biography

After studying agriculture, sociology and psychology in Vienna, he soon became editor of the Wiener Arbeiter-Zeitung . From 1965 he worked at the IFES Institute for Empirical Social Research , from 1976 he was its managing director.

In 1996, Gehmacher founded the company BOAS - Office for the Organization of Applied Social Research GesmbH . Since 1970 he has been a lecturer at the Vienna University of Technology .

His research focuses on the modeling of social systems, policy research, methodology of survey research, education and media research.

Awards

He was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna by the Governor on January 31, 2020.
