Ernst Heinrich Zettwach (born May 18, 1787 in Kolberg ; † June 24, 1857 ) was a Prussian administrative lawyer.

Life

Zettwach joined the Prussian judicial service on April 27, 1807 at the age of 20. In 1812 he was an assessor at the Marienwerder Higher Regional Court . After two years of service he was transferred to Stettin , where on May 8, 1816 he was promoted to higher regional judge . In 1833 he was appointed to the royal high tribunal as a laborer and on November 15, 1834, he was appointed a member of the highest court of justice. From 1842 to 1848 he moved to the Ministry of Law Revision as a secret senior judicial officer, but then returned to his old position at the higher tribunal.

Quasi in a secondary activity, his competence was also used by the Royal Council of State , the Law Commission, the Higher Censorship Court and the Court of Justice to resolve conflicts of competence.

Zettwach became a member of the lawless society in Berlin in 1840 under the current number 240 .

On April 27, 1857, on the occasion of his 50th anniversary in office, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV awarded him the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, which he had already received in 1847 . He was a doctor of law in the law faculties of the universities of Berlin and Greifswald .

Zettwach had dealt intensively, also in publishing, with the Pomeranian legal history and adaptation processes to Prussian law. He also worked on the ten-volume edition of the decision of the Upper Tribunal , published in Berlin in 1855 .

He probably died surprisingly in Berlin from a stroke in otherwise good health .
