Ernst Herbig (born April 6, 1876 in Burbach (Siegerland) , † November 2, 1943 in Kirchen (Sieg) ) was a German manager of coal mining.

Life

After graduating from high school in Dillenburg , Ernst Herbig studied mining at the Universities of Bonn and Gießen and RWTH Aachen University . In 1894 he became a member of the Corps Hansea Bonn . In 1895 he joined the Corps Teutonia Giessen . In 1897 he passed the exam to become a mountain trainee, in 1902 the exam to become a mountain assessor. In the same year he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. This was followed by activities as a mining assessor at the Oberbergamt in Bonn as well as a mining district officer in Eisleben and at the Oberbergamt in Halle (Saale) . In 1904 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. and his move to the mining inspection department. In 1912 he became a mine director in Saarbrücken. He took part in the First World War from 1915 to 1917. In 1917 he was appointed department director at the Reich Commissioner for Coal Distribution in Berlin. In 1919 he became director and board member of the Rheinisch-Westphalian coal syndicate in Essen. He was a member of the supervisory board of the AG Reichskohlenverband , a member of the Reichskohlenrat and a board member of the association for mining interests in Rhineland and Westphalia .
