Ernst Hojer

Ernst Hojer (born January 24,  1930 in Reichenberg ; † December 31, 2018 in Darmstadt ) was a German educator and university lecturer .

Life

Hojer was born in Bohemia . He went  to school in Bad Homburg , where he passed his Abitur exams in 1948. He then studied philosophy, education, German and history at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1953, Hojer obtained a doctorate in education. He worked in school, between 1956 and 1962 Hojer then worked at the Frankfurt University as a research assistant, in 1964 he completed his habilitation there.

Hojer was a private lecturer until 1968, before he took up a professorship at the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS) in the same year . He held this until 1975. From 1972 to 1974 Hojer was also rector of the DSHS. In 1978 he left Cologne in the direction of Würzburg , where he took over a professorship at the Institute for Education at the Julius Maximilians University . He remained in this position until his release in 1998. Hojer also temporarily held the functions of Dean of the Philosophical Faculty (1980 to 1988) and Senator (1982 to 1988) at the University of Würzburg.

The focus of his research work was on the subject areas of critical-liberal, humanistic and historical-systematic pedagogy, in particular anthropology, educational theories and the problem of humanism.
