Ernst Lagler

Ernst Lagler (born December 14, 1903 in Mödling (Lower Austria), † February 22, 1974 in Vienna ) was an Austrian university professor , economist and agricultural sociologist .

Live and act

After attending school in Gumpoldskirchen and Baden (near Vienna), Ernst Lagler studied political science at the University of Vienna from 1922 to 1927 , where he obtained his doctorate in 1927 (" Max Scheler's political and social theory"). From 1927 to 1939 he held a research assistant position for political economy at this university. His habilitation followed in 1935, and from 1936 he was also an honorary lecturer for international agricultural policy at the Consular Academy in Vienna. He also led summer courses at the Gmunden Summer School (Traunstein Castle). From 1939 he worked as a clerk in the Donauland regional food office in Vienna. Since the NSDAP saw him as politically unreliable, his teaching license was deemed to have expired in 1940. After the Second World War, Ernst Lagler tried to be reappointed to the university. From 1946 and 1948 he worked in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and in the Federal Ministry for Asset Protection and Economic Planning. From 1948 he was allowed to teach again at the University of Vienna. since 1951 as associate professor, from 1962 as full professor. He also held a teaching position at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna.

From 1946 to 1965 he led economic conferences in Sankt Wolfgang and Bad Ischl .

Ernst Lagler was close to the theoretician of the corporate state, Othmar Spann (1878–1950).
