Ernst Lindenbauer (born November 18, 1881 in Lichtenegg near Wels , † April 22, 1961 in Vienna ) was chief rider at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.

Lindenbauer was born as the son of a farmer in Lichtenegg near Wels , Upper Austria , and received his first riding lessons at the age of 13. He owed it to his outstanding talent that, after completing his schooling in 1895, he came to the riding stables of Archduke Franz Salvator in Lichtenegg as a trainee , where, in addition to lessons in riding and driving, he received valuable instruction in handling horses.
