Ernst Müller (born May 1, 1894 in Freiberg ; † March 10, 1972 ) was a German archivist and politician (LDPD).

Life

Ernst Müller grew up in Leipzig . At the University of Leipzig , he began to study law , political science and history , which he completed in 1921 with the legal state examination. The doctorate followed in 1925 . From 1926 Müller worked as a research assistant at the Leipzig City Archives . In 1945 he was appointed its head. In 1958 he had to give up his post due to illness. Müller continued his scientific research on Leipzig's city ​​history , particularly concerned with the history of the population, but also with the history of construction, trade fairs and trade, and presented important source editions. Parallel to his professional activity, he worked in various functions for the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDPD): as a city councilor in Leipzig, as a member of the Saxon State Parliament from 1950 to 1952 and as a district member for the Leipzig district from 1952 to 1958.
