Ernst Pierre Louis Eugen Breest

Ernst Pierre Louis Eugen Breest (born May 3, 1843 in Lenzen ; † May 9, 1918 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant clergyman and theologian .

Life

Ernst Breest was born as the son of the vice-principal Ernst Breest and his wife Charlotte Ossent on May 3, 1843 in Lenzen and trained at the Joachimsthal School in Berlin. Then he moved to the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin to study theology. After he was ordained on June 21, 1868 , he was installed as an auxiliary preacher in Sommerfeld . In 1874 and 1883, he became the chief pastor in Bad Wilsnack . Soon afterwards he was also appointed secretary of the Prussian Main Bible Society. In this function he played a major role in the publication of an altar Bible in 1908. a. 830 pages proofread. At the St. Jacobikirche in Berlin he was installed as a deacon in 1891 and six years later as archdeacon. On April 1, 1918, Breest finally retired and died shortly afterwards, on May 9, at the age of 75 in Berlin.
