Life

After graduating from the Horner Gymnasium, Pleßl attended the University of Vienna , where he studied geography and history . In 1955 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the local history of Dallein. From 1955 to 1992 he worked as a teacher at Horner schools.

As a scientist, he dealt - as a pupil and as a successor to Adalbert Klaar  - with historical forms of settlement and land in Austria, but mainly in northern Lower Austria . There are about 70 publications on this. In his works Pleßl represented an independent settlement-geographic method. He also disseminated his research results in numerous lectures and was therefore very popular. The desired appointment at the University of Vienna was denied to him.

Among the numerous honors, the Golden Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria is particularly worth mentioning.
