Ernst B. Thommen (born January 23, 1899 in Basel ; † May 14, 1967 in Muttenz ) was a Swiss football official .

From 1920 to 1924 Thommen was a player and official of FC Breite Basel, and from 1922 president of the Basel City Football Association. From 1938 until his death in 1967 he led the Swiss Sports Toto Society . In 1947 he was elected central president of the Swiss Football Association and held this office until 1954.

Internationally, Thommen was a member of the FIFA Executive Committee from 1950 to 1962 and its Vice-President from 1954. As such, he played a key role in the introduction of the Intertoto Cup and the Messestädte Cup , the first modern European Cup .

Thommen was head of the organizing committees for the football world championships in 1954, 1958 and 1962. From March 25 to September 28, 1961, he was also interim president of FIFA.
