Ernst Trapp

Ernst Trapp (born September 21, 1903 in Wesel ; † May 20, 1989 ibid) was a German engineer and building contractor .

Life

Ernst Trapp studied civil engineering at the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg , where he joined the Corps Saxonia-Berlin in the winter semester of 1924/25. He gained his first professional experience while building a high mountain road over the Altimur Pass in Afghanistan . In 1930 he became a Dr.-Ing. At the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg . PhD .

He later joined the FC Trapp construction company in Wesel, which was founded by his grandfather Friedrich Carl Trapp in Wesel in 1872 and expanded throughout Germany by his father, the master builder Ernst Trapp. Starting with the first orders from abroad in 1950, Ernst Trapp formed an international construction company of world fame, which was continued by his sons Friedrich Carl and Ernst Joachim.

In 1983 he was made an honorary citizen of RWTH Aachen University.

In memory of Ernst Trapp and the FC Trapp construction company, the RWTH Aachen awards the FCTrapp Prize . The Society of Friends of the TU Berlin awards the Dr.-Ing. Ernst Trapp Prize for outstanding diploma theses by civil and industrial engineers from the TU Berlin.
