Ernst Urbach

Ernst Urbach (born March 19, 1872 in Burg an der Wupper ; † June 8, 1927 in St. Blasien ) was a German composer , arranger and flautist . He also published under the pseudonym Ernst Rubach .

Life

Ernst Urbach received his first music lessons from his father, a pianist . He later studied in Berlin and was active as a flautist in several Berlin symphony orchestras.

He was also active as a composer and arranger, mainly in the field of light music . He wrote his arrangements especially for wind orchestra . However, he also wrote melody sequences for classical works, u. a. by Mozart , Beethoven , Grieg and Haydn .

He later moved to the southern Black Forest , where he lived until his death.

Urbach's best-known works include the march Per aspera ad astra (German: On rough paths to the stars ) from 1906 ( OCLC 730298102 ).
