Ernst Viktor Schellenberg
Ernst Viktor Schellenberg (born November 30, 1827 in Altenberg , † July 19, 1896 in Weimar ) was a professor and Privy Councilor. He wrote under the pseudonym Ernst Veit .
Life
Schellenberg studied in Jena and graduated with doctorate to Dr. phil. from. During his studies in 1846 he became a member of the fraternity on the Fürstenkeller and later a co-founder and honorary member of the fraternity Germania Jena . He then worked as a home, private and public teacher in various countries. He started teaching at the secondary school for girls in Weimar in 1858, was appointed director of this facility in 1870 and became a professor in 1871. He received the title of the 1878 Privy Councilor and 1889 to the Privy Court Councilor. Schellenberg was married and had a son Ernst Ludwig from the marriage .
The text for the song " Thüringen, holdes Land " (Thuringian hymn) was written by Schellenberg and later set to music by Carl Müllerhartung .
