Ernst Wiedasch

Ernst August Wiedasch (also: Ernestus and Ernst Wiedasch or Ernst Wilhelm Wiedasch * July 12, 1791 in Altenburg ; † April 10, 1857 in Ilfeld ) was a German classical philologist and grammar school teacher and director as well as translator of works by the Greek poet Homer and Pausanias .

Life

Ernst August Wiedasch attended grammar school there in his hometown Altenburg and then studied philology at the University of Jena and the University of Leipzig .

After completing his studies, Wiedasch initially worked as a private teacher in Neuwied and Koblenz , before taking up a position as an assistant teacher at the Jesuit College in Koblenz .

From 1817, Wiedasch worked as a high school professor in Wetzlar at the Royal Prussian High School in Wetzlar , where he worked until the autumn of 1833. Wiedasch's son Wilhelm Wiedasch was born in Wetzlar in 1821.

In 1835 Ernst Wiedasch accepted a position as a teacher at the Ilfeld Pedagogy , of which he was appointed director in 1853.
