Ernst von Destouches (born January 4, 1843 in Munich ; † April 24, 1916 there ) was a German archivist .

Live and act

The grandson of the musician and composer Franz Seraph Destouches (1772–1844) and nephew of the playwright and court official Joseph Anton von Destouches (1767–1832) studied law in Munich, where he took over the orphaned city ​​archive from 1863 (at the age of 19) and continued the Munich city chronicle of his father Ulrich von Destouches (1802–1863). Later he worked for the Foreign Ministry, among others. In 1876 he was appointed secretary in the Secret House State Archives and in 1887 royal councilor. Destouches founded the Städtisches Historisches Museum München (Stadtmuseum) , where he worked as a curator from 1873. In addition, Destouches wrote numerous writings on the history of Munich. B. the secular chronicle for 100 years of Oktoberfest 1810–1910.
