Ernst Otto Graf von Houwald (born August 25, 1844 in Straupitz , † August 24, 1903 in Coswig ) was a Prussian gentleman.

Life

Ernst Houwald was a lieutenant and knight of honor of the Order of St. John . From 1881 to 1887 he was district administrator of the Lübben district . In 1884, due to the early death of his older brother, he inherited the state rule of Straupitz and the seat in the manor house , which he assumed in 1885 and to which he belonged until his death. Houwald died the day before his 59th birthday.

Houwald came from the ennobled in the 17th century family Houwald . Her ancestor Christoph von Houwald had become prosperous as a war general in the Thirty Years War , which enabled him to acquire goods in East Prussia as well as the free estate of Straupitz in Lower Lusatia. The estate of the Straupitz estate granted the family a hereditary seat in the Prussian manor house .

Ernst Houwald was the second son of Heinrich von Houwald and his wife, Florentine Freiin von Houwald. He married Elisabeth Freiin von Eckardstein, with whom he had a daughter Irmgard and a son Christoph-Heinrich .
