Erwin Fischer (journalist, 1939)

Erwin Fischer (born February 19, 1939 in Linz or Vienna ; † February 23, 2015 ) was an Austrian television journalist and presenter as well as a program designer.

Life

Erwin Fischer originally wanted to become a flight technician, but studied newspaper science and art history in Vienna. After stints in America and Germany, he started in 1965 under Helmut Zilk on the Austrian Broadcasting School television program with the program What could I become? This should support students in choosing a career. In November 1968, he was present as the presenter of a nearly 24-hour live broadcast of the 1968 presidential election in the United States . In July 1969 he presented the 28-hour ORF live broadcast on the first manned moon landing .

From 1981 to 1993 (except in 1987) he moderated the live broadcast of the Vienna Opera Ball for ORF . He also worked for ORF as a designer, presenter or screenwriter for programs such as Horizonte , Jolly Joker , Made in Austria , the ORF broadcast of Villach Carnival and for Vera . From the beginning of the series in 1995, Fischer was in charge of the ORF program Lebenskünstler with Helmut Zilk. Until his retirement in February 1999 he was in charge of the broadcast for the society magazine Seitenblicke . In total, he participated in 2200 ORF productions.

Fischer died on February 23, 2015 at the age of 76 after a serious illness.
