Erwin Galeski (born October 29, 1945 ) is a former German professional footballer . From 1971 to 1975 he played 87 games in the Bundesliga for VfL Bochum .

Career

Erwin Galeski played exclusively for VfL Bochum from 1965 to 1975 and was a supporter in a team with such well-known names as Hans Walitza , Michael Lameck , Hermann Gerland and Franz-Josef Tenhagen during this time . He came to Castroper Strasse from the Bochum association Vorwärts Werne.

After being promoted to the Regionalliga West in 1965 , the club established itself and shortly afterwards was able to play for promotion to the Bundesliga . The special class of this team was already evident at that time when they reached the final of the DFB Cup in 1968 . She had previously eliminated Bayern Munich in the semifinals . Galeski had participated in the quarter-final success in front of 32,000 spectators on April 11, 1968 with 2-0 goals against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

While in 1969 participation in the promotion round was narrowly missed, VfL Bochum played for promotion for the first time in 1970 after the regional league championship was won, but failed after five defeats in the promotion round. But in 1971 the promotion games were won all the more confidently when VfL rose to the top division with only one defeat in eight games. In the successful promotion round of the Bundesliga, the defender made six appearances. After that, ninth place could be reached straight away in the 1971/72 season . He also belonged to the VfL team under coach Hermann Eppenhoff that made his debut in the Bundesliga on August 14, 1971, with a 1-0 home win against Eintracht Braunschweig. VfL's defensive line-up consisted of goalkeeper Hans-Jürgen Bradler , Reinhold Wosab , Manfred Rüsing , Galeski and Dieter Versen . Erwin Galeski played a total of 87 Bundesliga games for his club in the Bundesliga. From 1965 to 1971 he had already played 97 games with 18 goals for VfL in the then second-rate Regionalliga West.
