Erwin Klambauer

Erwin Klambauer (* 1968 ) is an Austrian solo flutist , university professor and orchestra musician .

Life

After completing school at the Wilhering Collegiate High School , Klambauer studied flute and piano at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Wolfgang Schulz . During his student days he was solo flutist in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra , in the Camerata Salzburg under Sándor Végh and in the European Union Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado . In 1992 an engagement with the stage orchestra of the Austrian federal theaters followed . From 1993 to 2013 he was principal flutist in the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra . Klambauer has been the solo flutist of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since 2014 .

Klambauer regularly gives concerts with the Ensembles Kontrapunkte , die reihe , Halil and the ORF wind quintet.

From 2004 to 2008 Klambauer taught at the Vienna Conservatory and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . Since 2008 he has been professor for flute at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz .
