Erwin Nestle
Erwin Nestle (born May 22, 1883 in Münsingen (Württemberg) , † November 21, 1972 in Ulm ) was a German Protestant theologian and classical philologist.
Nestle continued the editing activity of the New Testament begun by his father Eberhard Nestle in Ulm. In the 13th edition of the Novum Testamentum Graece from 1927, he developed the foundations of the text apparatus that is still used today. The work further developed by Barbara and Kurt Aland in Münster is also called "the Nestle" or "Nestle-Aland".
He also published the critical edition of Luther's Vulgate revision planned by his father for the Weimar edition after his death.
Erwin Nestle's son is the mathematician Fritz Nestle .
