Erwin Thomas

Erwin Thomas (born December 27, 1881 in Hof (Saale) , † December 29, 1969 in Duisburg ) was a German doctor and university professor .

Life

After attending the humanistic grammar school in Hof, Erwin Thomas studied medicine and natural sciences at the universities of Munich, Rostock and Erlangen . In 1903 he became a member of the Baruthia Corps in Erlangen . In 1908 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . After working as an assistant at the Children's Clinic and Medical Clinic in Leipzig , he was appointed senior physician to the Reich Institute for Combating Infant Mortality in Berlin-Charlottenburg in 1910 . After participating in the First World War as a doctor for 40 months at the front , he completed his habilitation in 1919 at the University of Cologne , where he had become senior physician at the university children's clinic. In 1922 he was appointed associate professor. On May 1, 1927, he was appointed as a doctor in charge of the municipal maternity and infant home of the municipal children's clinic in Duisburg , which he managed until February 28, 1949.

Thomas's work on internal secretion is considered fundamental.
