Erwin Zachmeier (born December 14, 1928 in Nuremberg ; † February 19, 1991 in Stein (Middle Franconia) ) was a Franconian musician, folk song collector, folk song and folk dance mediator.

Life

Zachmeier was born in 1928 as the second son of his parents Stefan and Apollonia (née Häusler) in the St. Leonhard district of Nuremberg . He learned the profession of bank clerk. In 1958 he married Renate Steiner from Nuremberg, with whom he had three daughters Gisela, Stefanie and Franziska. Until 1978 he practiced his learned profession as an authorized signatory, then he turned his previous hobby into a profession and took over the position of folk music nurse for Franconia at the Bavarian State Association for Home Care eV The office was the own row house in Stein, which the family moved into in 1972. Zachmeier died there in 1991 after suffering from severe cancer.

Musical work

In the harmonica courses offered by KdF , Zachmeier learned the so-called club model as a child . A local pub musician, Georg Vollrath vulgo Vollraths-Schorsch, taught him the knowledge of an entertainment musician. After the Second World War , Zachmeier briefly turned to swing and tried to gain knowledge of the trombone , but soon got away from it.

For a long time the family had been active in the local costume association, which at that time maintained the Miesbach traditional costume . There Zachmeier came into contact with Bavarian folk music and folk theater. 1959 arose from the musicians of several clubs Nuremberg the Loonharder musicians who first tried pieces of Tobi Reiser folk music replay. In contact with the Upper Bavarian folk music nurse Wastl Fanderl and the then head of the music department in the BR-Studio Nuremberg Josef Ulsamer , the group around Zachmeier soon made the local Franconian music. The efforts to promote folk dancing by Georg von Kaufmann encouraged Zachmeier to teach folk dancing in Franconia and to play with the Loonhard musicians at dance evenings. In 1977, in contact with other music and singing groups, Zachmeier founded the working group Franconian Folk Music District Middle Franconia , which was soon followed by corresponding associations for the other Franconian districts. Kurt Becher, managing director of the Bavarian State Association for Home Care eV, finally convinced him to take over the management of the “Advice Center for Franconian Folk Music”, in whose name he held countless singing evenings, folk dance courses and seminars from then on until his death. Sheet music, song books and books with folk songs, some of which he had collected, followed. Zachmeier was directly or indirectly involved in many group foundations in the 1970s and 1980s.

Awards

Zachmeier was posthumously honored in 1991 with the Medal of Honor of the Middle Franconia district .
