features

Representatives of Erythrodiplax anomala have a rather thin, spindle-shaped abdomen ( abdomen ). It is black and has a moderately whitish-blue frosting on the first segment . The tires are very dense on segments two to seven. Segment eight to ten and the abdominal appendages are deep black.

In the case of colored males, the thorax is completely black and thickly frosted on the upper side, slightly thinner on the sides, whitish-blue. In young animals and females, the front of the thorax is yellowish and has a dark, narrow and somewhat diffuse band close to the central seam, which takes up up to three quarters of the height. In addition, there is a very dark and broad shoulder stripe that is slightly diffuse and narrowed towards the top and merges with the median band at the top. Numerous chagrin dots up to just above the shoulder seam complete the picture.

The legs are black. The wings are transparent with a brownish- black wing mark ( pterostigma ), which is bordered by black veins. At the base of the wing there is a sharply demarcated golden yellow spot.

Colored males are predominantly black on the face. The epistome is bright yellow, the forehead ( frons ) vividly blaumetallisch, moderately deep punctures and no clear leading edge. The vertex is blue metallic. In young animals and females, the face and lips are brownish-yellow, forehead and crown are blue-metallic.
