Erythronium purpurascens is a species of the tooth lily genus( Erythronium ).
features
The onions are 25 to 40 millimeters tall and slim. The leaves are 6 to 15 inches long. The leaf blade is green and lanceolate to almost ovate. The leaf margin is more or less wavy. The shaft is 7 to 20 centimeters long. The inflorescence is one to six flowers .
The petals are 10 to 20 millimeters in size, lanceolate and not eared at their base. They are white in color and bright yellow in the lower third, as they get older they turn pale pink-purple. The inner petals are wider than the outer, eyelet at the base and less than four times as long as they are wide. The stamens are 8 to 12 millimeters in size. The stamens are slender and yellow. The anthers are cream to yellow, the stylus 4 to 5 millimeters long and yellow. The scar is more or less unlapped. The capsules are 2 to 4 centimeters long and obovate.
The flowering time is in summer, shortly after the snow has melted, from June to August.
Occurrence
Erythronium purpurascens is endemic to California. The species occurs in open coniferous forests, on meadows and in rocky locations at altitudes of 1500 to 2700 meters.
