The Archdiocese of Beirut ( Latin : Archidioecesis Berytensis Armenorum ) is an archdiocese of the Armenian Catholic Church united with the Roman Catholic Church.
Founded on January 25, 1929 as a metropolitan seat without suffragans, the Archdiocese still had 28,130 believers in ten parishes in 1980 with five diocesan priests , 20 religious priests and 50 religious sisters . By 1990 the number of believers sank to around 15,000 in twelve parishes with two diocesan priests, 18 religious priests and 46 religious sisters. By the year 2000 the number of believers sank to 12,000 in eleven parishes with two diocesan priests and eleven religious priests, plus 30 religious sisters.
In 1972 the last Archbishop of Beirut retired and served as auxiliary bishop in the service of the Patriarch of Cilicia . Since then, the archbishopric has no longer had its own bishop and is also provided for by the patriarchate .
