Esa Lehikoinen (born April 17, 1986 in Joensuu ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who was under contract with the Kassel Huskies from the DEL2 until April 2017 .

Career

Esa Lehikoinen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Jokipojat , for whose first team he made his debut in the third-rate Suomi-sarja in the 2003/04 season . In his rookie year , the defender and his team immediately made it to the Mestis , the second Finnish division, as third division champions . In this he was active for another two years for Jokipojat, where he was also in four games as a loaner for the Finnish U20 national team in the Mestis in the 2005/06 season . He then joined Lukko Rauma from the SM-liiga , but was used in the 2006/07 season mainly in Lukko's A-Junior team and on loan in four games for his home club, the second division Jokipojat.

From 2007 to 2009 Lehikoinen was a regular on Lukko Rauma's professional team. He then signed a contract with BK Mladá Boleslav from the Czech Extra League for the 2009/10 season .
