Esaias Gruber the Elder (* around 1530 ; † around 1595 in Lindau ) and Esaias Gruber the Younger (* around 1561 in Lindau; † before 1630 ) were important sculptors in the Lake Constance area around 1600.

The stonemason and architect Esaias Gruber d. Ä. moved from Rorschach to Lindau and settled there. His son, baptized in 1561, is one of the most important contemporary sculptors in the region after Jörg Zürn and Hans Morinck . Esaias Gruber lived and worked in the house at Cramergasse 9, which was probably built by him around 1600, on the Lindau island, a monogram and coat of arms above the door indicate this. His artist signature AEG (Aesaias Gruber) can be found last in Hohenems in 1627, he probably died before 1630. The tomb of Esaias Gruber the Elder. Ä. is located in the old cemetery in Aeschach - the original epitaph is in the Lindau City Museum .

Decorations with female angels, snail and ribbon ornaments as well as acanthus leaves are typical for the Lindau sculpture workshop Esaias Gruber Vater and Sohn.
