history

The place Eschelhorn was first mentioned in 1182. The Counts of Henneberg -Hartenberg received "a yard and a riding court at Eschelhorn" as well as "the tithe share" at Alsleben as a fief of the diocese of Fulda . The Counts of Henneberg-Hartenberg sold their property in 1371 to the Henneberg-Aschach line, which was later called Henneberg-Römhild. From this Eschelhorn and Alsleben went in 1548 to the Count von Mansfeld , who were related by marriage and sold this property to the Ernestine dukes of Saxony in 1555 . In 1575 the village of Eschelhorn became desolate.

In 1604, Prince-Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn from the Duchy of Saxony acquired the former Henneberg possessions in Alsleben with Eschelhorn and incorporated them into the Königshofen office . In 1803 the desert came to Bavaria, 1805 to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg and in 1814 finally to Bavaria .

When Alsleben was incorporated into the market town of Trappstadt, the desert became part of Trappstadt on January 1, 1978.
