ESPer Mami ( Japanese エ ス パ ー 魔 美 , Esupā Mami ) is a manga series by Fujiko F. Fujio , which appeared in Japan from 1977 to 1982. It was later implemented as an anime television series and film, also known as Mami the Psychic . The work can be classified into the genres of comedy and fantasy .

content

The student Mami Sagura ( 佐 倉 魔 美 ) discovers one day that it has psychic abilities ( ESP ). Mommy can sense when others are having problems and teleport to them to help. But she hides her powers from other people, including her parents. Only her school friend Kazuo Takahata ( 高 畑 和 夫 ) knows about Mami's powers and is by her side on her adventures.

The manga was published from 1977 to 1982 - with an interruption from August 1978 to May 1979 - in the Shōnen Big Comic magazine published by Shogakukan . The chapters were later published in nine edited volumes. In the course of a complete edition of the works of Fujiko F. Fujio , the manga was published again in 2009 and 2010.

Anime adaptation

At the Shin-Ei Animation studio , a 119-part television series based on the manga was created under the direction of Keiichi Hara . Ryo Motohira and Sukehiro Tomita wrote the scripts , Sadayoshi Tominaga wrote the character design and Ken Kawai was the artistic director . The first broadcast of the 24-minute episodes ran from April 7, 1987 to October 26, 1989 on TV Asahi . From 1990 the anime was shown several times on French television, from 1994 also on Italia 1 in Italy and again in 2011 on the channel Hiro.

The same team also created a 41-minute film on ESPer Mami in 1988, entitled ESPer Mami: Hoshizora no Dancing Doll ( エ ス パ ー 魔 美 星空 の ダ ン シ ン グ ド ー ル ). This was demonstrated in Japan from March 12, 1988.

music

The music for the series and the film was composed by Kōhei Tanaka . The preludes are Teleportation - Koi no Mikakunin ( テ レ ポ ー テ ー シ ョ ン - 恋 の 未 確認 - ) and SOS . The songs Fushigi Angel ( 不 思議Angel ) and I Like You kara I Love You (I Like You か ら I Love You) were used for the two end credits . All pieces were sung by Ushio Hashimoto .

Real series

In 2002, NHK Nagoya produced a Japanese live television series ( Dorama ) directed by Kenji Hatanaka . The 12 episodes were broadcast from January 5 to March 23, 2002 on NHK E.
