history
The stadium was built in 1932 on behalf of the government of the Mexican state of Coahuila by the engineer Zeferino Domínguez, who was one of the most important architects of Coahuila in the 1930s and 1940s.
The stadium, which is now in the city center, is located on a former military site, which at the time of its construction was still on the edge of what was then a much smaller city. The construction costs of the stadium, which was incomparable in terms of its construction in Mexico at the time, amounted to around 250,000 Mexican pesos .
Originally designed for various sports, the stadium has been a baseball stadium since the 1940s and has been used as a home ground by the Vaqueros Laguna ever since . In addition, it is also used for other events, such as concerts . Shakira performed here on May 24, 2007 .
