The Estadio Zoque Víctor Manuel Reyna is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Mexican city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez in the state of Chiapas . It serves as the home ground of the Mexican first division club Chiapas FC as well as Atlético Chiapas from the third division . The stadium is nicknamed La Selva Jaguar ( German  Jaguar Dschungel ) and Selva de Chiapas ( German  Dschungel von Chiapas ).

history

It was named in honor of the physics and English teacher Victor Manuel Reyna (1910–1973), who made a decisive contribution to football in Chiapas. His focus was not only on sporting aspects, but primarily about promoting young people in social terms. He is considered the "father of football in Chiapas".

The stadium was built from 1982 to 1984 for around 6,000 spectators and, following the decision to acquire the first division license for a newly formed soccer club called Jaguares de Chiapas , expanded to a capacity of almost 27,500 seats.

The expanded stadium was inaugurated during a league game in the Mexican Primera División between the local Jaguares and Mexico's most popular club Chivas Guadalajara , which ended 1-1. Omar Bravo had put the guests in the lead in the 23rd minute and was thus the first goalscorer in the new stadium.

In 2014 around 30 million MXN were invested in a stadium renovation and the space increased to 32,000.
