Estelle Alphand (born April 23, 1995 in Briançon ) is a French - Swedish ski racer . She specializes in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom . The daughter of the former ski racer and rally driver Luc Alphand has been competing for Sweden since 2017.

biography

Alphand, whose mother is from Sweden , took part in FIS races from November 2010 at the age of 15 . In January 2011 she achieved her first victory at this level, in a super combination in Tignes . The first participation in the Junior World Championships followed a month later. In February 2011 she was used for the first time in the European Cup and immediately classified in the points. Her first season she finished with the French slalom junior championship. At the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck in February 2012 , Alphand won three medals: gold in the Super-G and silver in the giant slalom and in the super-combined.

In the following two winters, Alphand was gradually able to gain a foothold in the European Cup. In December 2012 she reached the first podium in the super combined by Kvitfjell . Her first appearance in the World Cup was on March 9, 2013 in the giant slalom in Ofterschwang , where she was eliminated in the first round. She achieved her best result at the Junior World Championships in 2015 in Lillehammer as fourth in the downhill. Alphand won his first World Cup points on November 27, 2015 with 21st place in the giant slalom in Aspen .

After Alphand was able to classify only once in the points in the 2016/17 season, she dropped out of the French squad. In order to give her sports career new impetus, she asked the French Ski Association to be allowed to start for Sweden in the future (her mother Anna-Karin is Swedish). After brief negotiations, the association granted permission and Alphand began the 2017/18 season as a member of the Swedish ski team. After the association change, she finished fifth in the Lienz slalom on December 28, 2017 , achieving her best World Cup result by far.
