Esther Henseleit (born January 14, 1999 in Varel ) is a German professional golfer .
Amateur career
As a girl, Henseleit played golf at the Golfclub am Meer in Bad Zwischenahn ; Already at the age of nine she had a handicap of 21. In 2010 she became Lower Saxony state champion, in 2013 she switched to the Hamburg Golf Club . At the age of 13 she became German champion in her age group for the first time. She has been a member of the German national team since 2014, won the bronze medal at the international women's amateur championship in 2016, and was nominated for the Junior Solheim Cup in 2017 . In 2018, Esther Henseleit won the German Individual Championships as well as the German Team Championships and the European Ladies' Club Trophy with the Hamburg Golf Club team.
Professional career
Henseleit ended her amateur career in January 2019 with a handicap of +7.1, which is unique in Europe ; After qualifying as third in the Qualifying School in 2018 , she started playing on the Ladies European Tour in 2019 . She won the Skaftö Open the LET Access Series and the Magical Kenya Ladies Open the LET; In addition, in 2019 she achieved four second places and a total of ten top 10 placements. In May 2019, Henseleit also qualified for the US Women's Open .
Henseleit's victory at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open secured her both the LET Order of Merit and the award as Rookie of the Year ; she was only the third player in the history of the LET after Laura Davies and Carlota Ciganda to achieve this. The Order of Merit secured her the right to play on the LET for the next seven years (“ exemption category ” 2a); Henseleit also qualified in November 2019 with a 30th place in the Qualifying School (" Q school ") for the LPGA Tour, on which she has been playing since the beginning of 2020.
After completing her first year as a professional at LET, Henseleit was also voted Hamburg's Sportswoman of the Year 2019.
