Esymi ( Greek Αισύμη [ ɛˈsimi ] ( f. Sg. ), Until 1920 Turkish Doğanhisar , Bulgarian Доган Хисар ) is a village in the municipality of Alexandroupoli in the Greek region of East Macedonia and Thrace . Together with Leptokarya it forms the local community of the same name ( Topiki Kinotita Esymis Τοπική Κοινότητα Αισύμης).

location

With 214.773 km², Esymi is the largest local community in the municipality of Alexandroupoli. It lies on the border with the municipalities of Maronia-Sapes , Arriana and Soufli in the north of the municipality. In the south, from west to east, are the local communities Kirki, Avandas, Nipsa and Pylea.

The village of Esymi is located about 33 km northeast of Alexandroupoli on the national road 53 , Leptokarya is about another 8 km northwest.
