Ethan Finlay (born August 6, 1990 in Duluth , Minnesota ) is an American football player.
Player career
Youth and college
Finley played soccer and American football in high school in Marshfield, Wisconsin . He quickly made a name for himself in football in the region and set the record in the state of Wisconsin for the most goals scored and assists in a season. Together with his youth club, Milwaukee FC, he won the US Region 2 Championship three times.
From 2008 to 2011 Finley played college soccer at Creighton University in Omaha , Nebraska . During his time in college, he was nominated three times for the Hermann Trophy, the highest honor for a college soccer player. In 2012 he finished second in the College Soccer's player of the year election . In 2011 he was appointed to the NSCAA All-American First Team selection. He was one of the most successful soccer players at Creighton University.
During college break he played for Chicago Fire Premier in 2010 in the Premier Development League .
Columbus crew
In the MLS SuperDraft 2012, Finley was selected in the first round by the Columbus crew. There he made his Major League Soccer debut on March 10, 2012 .
In the 2015 season he managed ten goals and 13 assists, which was his best performance of the season until then.
National team
On January 31, 2016, Ethan Finlay made his debut for the United States national soccer team against Iceland . Finlay had the option to play for both the USA and Canada.
