Ethel Raby

Ethel Mabel Raby , married Davies , (born October 8, 1914 , † March 30, 2008 ) was a British athlete .

In 1938 she won silver in the long jump at the British Empire Games in Sydney and with the English 660-yard relay. Over 100 yards and over 80 m hurdles she was eliminated in the preliminary run. In the same year she was fourth in the long jump at the European Athletics Championships in Vienna and failed over 80 m hurdles in the preliminary run.

In the long jump she was six times English champion outdoors (1935-1939, 1946) and five times in the hall (1935-1939). She set her personal best in this discipline of 5.80 m on August 7, 1937 in London .

Ethel Davies died on March 30, 2008. Her urn was buried two months later in Makara, New Zealand .
