Etienne Thévoz

Etienne Thévoz (* 1956 in Lausanne ; resident in Missy VD ) is a Swiss diplomat . He has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Qatar since 2015 .

life and career

Thévoz studied at the University of Geneva and graduated with a lic. phil. from. In 1988 he joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and worked in Bern and Tel Aviv (Israel) in the following years . After Thévoz had become a diplomatic assistant at the Political Secretariat in 1990, he was transferred to New York City in 1993 to the Swiss Observer Mission to the United Nations (UN). There he held the post of second embassy secretary before being promoted to first embassy secretary in 1994. In 1997 he was transferred to Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) as Secretary of the Embassy and first employee of the Head of Mission , in 2000 he was appointed Counselor there and transferred to Brussels the following year . In 2004 Thévoz began his work in Bern as Deputy Head of Political Department II Africa / Middle East with ministerial status . In October 2007, the Swiss took up his post as ambassador to Yaoundé (Cameroon), and in October 2011 he was transferred to Kuwait City as ambassador to Kuwait and Qatar . In October 2015 Thévoz took over the office of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador in Doha (Qatar) from Martin Aeschbacher with responsibility for Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain .
