description

Appearance and leaf

Eucalyptus roycei grows in the form of the mallee - eucalyptus , this is a growth form that is more shrub -like than tree-shaped , there are usually several trunks that form a lignotuber ; or as a tree that reaches heights of 2 to 6 meters. The gray, gray-brown or yellow bark is smooth all over the tree and peels in short strips or small, polygonal patches. There are oil glands in both the bark and the marrow.

In Eucalyptus roycei is Heterophyllie ago. On medium-old specimens, the leaves are sessile, elliptical, straight, with entire margins and matt gray-green. The opposite, dull green leaves on the top and bottom of the same color on adult specimens have a leaf blade that is lanceolate, broadly lanceolate or egg-shaped, tapers towards the base of the blade, has a pointed or tapered upper end and can be straight or sickle-shaped. The raised lateral nerves extend from the median nerve at an acute angle. The cotyledons ( cotyledons ) are kidney-shaped.

Inflorescence and flower

On the side of an inflorescence stem that is round or square in cross section, there are only about three flowers in a simple inflorescence . The flower buds are egg-shaped or cylindrical and not floured or frosted blue-green. The sepals are reduced to four teeth on the flower cup (hypanthium). The smooth calyptra is hemispherical or conical, as long as the striped or ribbed flower cup and wider than this. The flowers are yellow or creamy white. The flowering period in Western Australia extends from January to March.

fruit

The stalked fruit is cylindrical. The disc is indented, the fruit compartments are included.
