Eucharius Rösslin the Younger , also Eucharius Rhodion or Eucharius Rößlin († 1554 in Frankfurt am Main ), was a German doctor .

Life

Eucharius Rösslin the Younger is the son of Eucharius Rösslin the Elder and was his father's successor in the office of Frankfurt City Doctor. Rösslin the Younger had studied at the universities of Freiburg (1511), Cologne (1516) and Leipzig (1518). He translated his father's popular book on midwives, The Pregnant Frawen and Midwives Rosengarten, into Latin. The 1632 edition became the basis for translations into French, Dutch and English and has been reprinted frequently.

The Kreutterbuch von All Erdtgewächs , published in 1533, was also a success. This is an adaptation of the Garden of Health (1485) by Johann Wonnecke von Kaub and the Small Distilling Book by Hieronymus Brunschwig (1500), which not only describes plants but - as was common in a herb book at the time - also minerals.

When Rösslin died in 1554, Adam Lonitzer was his successor as Frankfurt city doctor.
