Eugen Fiderer
Eugen Fiderer OCist (born February 24, 1894 in Emerkingen , Württemberg, † February 16, 1973 in Monte Rosso , Italy) was abbot of the Stams monastery .
Life
Born as Josef Aloys Fiderer, he entered the Cistercian Parakeet Abbey in 1907 , began his novitiate there on August 14, 1910 and took the religious name Eugene. He celebrated his profession on August 15, 1911 and was ordained a priest on July 12, 1916 by Archbishop Franz Borgia Sedej von Gorizia . On July 1, 1946, he became prior of the Stams monastery. On October 1, 1949, he was elected 40th Abbot of Stams. On October 9, 1949, he was awarded by Paul Rusch the benediction . On July 8, 1968, he resigned his position. He was buried on February 24, 1973 in Stams.
