Eugen Kirschbaum

Eugen Kirschbaum (born August 1, 1864 in Solingen ; † March 11, 1915 in Lehe , Province of Hanover ) was a German mayor.

Life

Kirschbaum came from Solingen. He studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1885 he was reciprocated in the Corps Saxonia Bonn . In 1908 he succeeded Theodor Johannes Schmiedel as mayor of Lehe, where 37,457 residents lived (1910). During his tenure, the Speckenbütteler Park was expanded from 1909/10 , the electrification of the Bremerhaven tram from 1908 , the construction of the Pestalozzi School in Bremerhaven in 1910, the construction of the Bremerhaven-Lehe station from 1912 , the inauguration of the Körnerschule B as an elementary school for girls and from 1912 Around 1915 to 1917 the construction of the savings bank and post office building at Hafenstrasse 126. He died at the age of 51. Karl Schönewald succeeded him as mayor .

Honors

The Bürgermeister-Kirschbaum-Platz in front of the Lehe train station bears his name.
