Eugen Nosko (born October 15, 1938 in St. Martin , Czechoslovakia ) is a German photographer and journalist .

In St. Martin, where Nosko grew up bilingual, he attended elementary school. In 1946 the family had to leave Czechoslovakia following the enactment of the Beneš decrees and settled in Teterow in Mecklenburg . After completing his school education, Nosko learned the trade of radio mechanic in Radeberg , but never did this job.

From 1961 to 1963 he completed an editorial traineeship at the Dresden daily newspaper Die Union . At the same time, he took up a distance learning course at the technical college for journalism in Leipzig and graduated as a journalist. Since 1964 Nosko worked as a freelancer, initially mainly for central press organs of the GDR . He worked as a text author as well as a photographer and photo journalist. He acquired his knowledge in this area self-taught. From 1967 onwards he shifted the focus of his work to industrial photography on behalf of state- owned companies and combines of the GDR . Comprehensive series of images were created. In 1985 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany, where he continued to work as a freelance industrial photographer. Since terminating his photographic activity in 2000 for health reasons, he has been living in Dresden again .

The main theme of his work was people and technology in everyday industrial life in the GDR. His series of images focus primarily on mining , metallurgy , the metal industry, as well as construction and transport . An extensive collection of cityscapes was also created. In 1998, the Deutsche Fotothek department of the SLUB Dresden was able to include around 11,000 medium-format photographs of his industrial photography in its inventory. In 2008, around 26,000 recordings on the GDR industry, cities in the GDR, cabarets and variety shows followed. 3,000 images of industrial photography in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1986 to 1995 have also been in the Deutsche Fotothek's collection since 2008.
