Eugenie Dillmann
Eugenie Dillmann , also Dilmann (born July 6, 1865 in Kiel , † July 11, 1940 in Berlin ) was a German painter and graphic artist who mainly painted landscapes.
life and work
Dillmann was the daughter of the German orientalist and theologian August Dillmann and his wife Mathilde. The two sisters, Julie (porcelain painter) and Elisabeth (wood carver), who died early, were also artists. Eugenie was not married and stood by her father after the early death of her mother as a social companion. As a theology professor at the University of Berlin and a linguistic genius, he was in great demand and the invitations went as far as the imperial court.
She received her training in Berlin in the drawing and painting school of the VdBK with Julius Jacob the Younger and in Haimhausen near Dachau with Bernhard Buttersack . Park landscapes, orchards as well as pre-alpine meadows and mown fields were her favorite motifs. In her early years she painted foothills and mountain landscapes from Bavaria, Tyrol and Switzerland, and later the atmospheric waters and lakes from the area around Berlin. In her early days she also painted still lifes , still somewhat in the academic style of 1870. Later, under the influence of Prof. Buttersack in Munich, she had a loose, impressionistic application of paint. The green nature in its numerous fine nuances became her preferred palette.
In 1904 she became a member of the Berlin Local Association of the German Art Cooperative. From 1896 to 1927 she was a member of the Association of Berlin Women Artists .
