Eugenio Orlandi

Eugenio Orlandi (born before 1979) is an Italian engineer, manager and deputy director of Europol. He has been Deputy Director of the European Police Authority Europol since August 1, 2007 and after the second and final extension of his term of office by the Council of the European Union until July 31, 2015 . He heads the department Capabilities (Engl. Abilities, potentials ).

Life

Eugenio Orlandi has been holding a PhD in engineering from La Sapienza University in Rome since 1979 . From 1980 to 2002, Orlandi worked as a software specialist, project manager, IT manager and technological innovation manager for Acea SpA, an Italian energy and water company . In the course of these activities, Orlandi also gained experience in managing industrial companies, privatization and listing on stock exchanges. In 2002 he became a director of AMA SpA, a manufacturer of accessories for agricultural machinery, earthmoving machinery, leisure and passenger transport machinery.

In the course of his working life, Orlandi has dealt intensively with security issues, especially in the area of information and communication technologies . From 1983 to 87 he coordinated a working group of security experts and in 1999 he was responsible for the technology in the Y2K project of the energy supplier in Rome.

Since August 1st 2007, Orlandi has been Deputy Director of Europol. He heads the Capabilities department and is responsible for finances, human resources , although Europol does not rely on the European Personnel Selection Office , and information and communication technologies.

Orlandi has published more than 70 articles and works in national and international conferences in Europe, America, Asia, wrote four books and was co-author in three others.
